The electric vehicle market continues to grow, and BMW is going to be a major part of that expansion. The 1 Series-based Active E will be arriving soon, with a per-month lease rate of $499 and $2,250 due at signing. Following the release of the Active E, the BMW i3 will head to market sometime in 2013 with a reported sticker price of around $35,000.
The rear-wheel-drive i3 is powered by a 150-horsepower electric motor and a battery system that will reportedly offer drivers a range of up to 160 miles. Besides being a premium compact EV, the BMW i3 is also an adept drifter in the snow. Keep your eyes peeled come auto show season, because a non-camouflaged version is bound to show up soon.
